Features And Applications Of Zircon Refractory Brick

Zircon brick is a high-technology material used for industrial applications because of superior mechanical, thermal, electrical, chemicaland optical properties. It is widely used in the high erosive zones of glass furnace, chemical industry, and metallurgy industry.

Zircon brick is made from stable zircon sand. Zircon sand is based on zirconium silicate (ZrO2.SiO2 or ZrSiO4).

Zircon brick is acid refractory with the advantages of high mechanical strength, high refractoriness under load, excellent thermal shock stability, good creep resistance and good corrosion resistance to glass liquid. It is resistant to most oxides and not wetted by many metals and is therefore an excellent crucible refractory material in metallurgy industry.

In glass industry, Zircon brick is widely used in glass contact portion of alkali free or low-alkali glass melting furnace and the upper area of flame space and frequent thermal shock region of alkali-free or low-alkali glass, sodium-calcium glass, boron-silicate glass, lead glass and other technical glass melting furnace. It is also suitable for paving and secondary layer of paving bottom, back lining, channel blocks, sidewall of meter of glass fiber furnace and floating glass tanks. Additionally, it can be used as neutral brick, skew brick in soda-lime glass kiln.

It can be also used in transition region between up roof silica brick and fusion zirconia-corundum brick or fusion zirconia-mullite brick, transition region between silica brick and magnesia brick, crown, burner, thermal couple, peep hole, secondary layer of melting bottom and back lining. In addition, it is also applied as the ladle lining for metallurgical industry.
